속          담	Absence makes the heart grow fonder
영어의미	Being away from someone or something for a period of time makes you appreciate that person or thing more when you see them or it again
한국어의미	누군가 또는 무언가로부터 멀리 떨어져 있어 봐야 그것의 소중함을 알게 된다

영어의미	If something takes time to do, it doesn’t help to constantly check on it. You just have to give it time.

영어의미	If you’re in a bad situation and someone offers to help you, you have to take whatever they give you and shouldn’t ask for more

영어의미	What is “beautiful” is different for each person

속          담	Good things come to those who wait
영어의미	If you are patient, good things can happen
한국어의미	참고 인내하는 자에게 복이 있다.
예          문	“I know you’re hungry, but stop being so impatient. We just ordered our food. Good things come to those who wait.”

속          담	Hope for the best, prepare for the worst
영어의미	In any situation, be optimistic about the result, but always be ready for the worst outcome
한국어의미	최선을 바라고 최악의 상황에 대비하라.
예          문	“We’re going on vacation next week. It’s supposed to rain a lot, so we’re bringing our umbrellas and a bunch of board games. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.”

영어의미	If something is already working well, don’t try to change it or improve it

속          담	If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself
영어의미	Don’t depend on someone else to do a good job; do it yourself
한국어의미	다른 사람이 잘 해주길 의지하지 말고 너 스스로 해라.

속          담	The enemy of my enemy is my friend
영어의미	If someone whom I don’t like doesn’t like someone else whom I don’t like, we can act like friends and unite against the other person (common in war)
한국어의미	나의 적의 적은 곧 나의 친구다.
예          문	“I don’t like you, you don’t like me. But I think we can agree that we both HATE Daniel. Let’s work together and get him fired! The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?”

속          담	People who live in glass houses should not throw stones
영어의미	Don’t criticize someone if you’re not perfect either; don’t be a hyprocrite
한국어의미	자신이 완벽하지 않다면 다른 어떤 사람도 비난하지 마라
예          문	“Why are you always bothering her about being addicted to her phone? You’ve been smoking for 20 years and haven’t been able to give it up. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.”

영어의미	Don’t waste your time or other people’s time; also, if you can use your time to make money in some way, you should do that.

영어의미	The person who complains in a situation is more likely to get something.

영어의미	Trying to get revenge on someone who has hurt you will only make things worse
