우리가 2:1로 이겼다 - 축구 결과 영어로 어떻게 말할까?

크로아티아가 18일 오전(한국 시각) 카타르 할리파 인터내셔널 스타디움에서 펼쳐진 ‘2022 FIFA 카타르 월드컵’ 3·4위 모로코와의 결정전에서 2-1 승리를 거두어, 크로아티아가 3위 모로코가 4위로 대회를 마쳤습니다. 아르헨티나와 프랑스가 맞붙는 월드컵 결승전만 남겨둔 상황인데요. 오늘은 여러 스포츠 가운데 축구와 관련한 모든 영어 표현에 대하여 알아보도록 하겠습니다. 

1. 포지션 관련 용어 

 

골키퍼 : goalkeeper, goalie : a player whose special role is to stop the ball from entering the goal.

공격수  : striker, attacker, forward : a player who is considered in terms of ability to strike the ball into the goal area.  

미드 필더 : midfielder : a player who is positioned to play in the middle part of the playing field / pitch. 

수비수 : defender : a player whose task it is to protect their own side’s goal, and prevent the other team from scoring. 주장 : captain, skipper : the leader of a team. 

교체 선수 : substitute : a sports player nominated as eligible to replace another after a match has begun. 

심판  : referee : an official who watches a match closely to ensure the rules are adhered to, and to arbitrate on matters that may arise during a game. 

부심 : assistant referee : an official who assists the referee or umpire from the touchline, especially in deciding whether the ball is out of play or not, or if a player is offside. 

 

2. 축구 용어들

 

경기, 시합 : match : two teams playing against each other in a 90-minute game.

골대 : goalposts : markers used to determine where it would count as a goal.

축구 경기 시작 : kick-off :the first kick of the game when two players from the same team in the centre circle play the ball and start the game.

오프사이드 : offside : a position which is not allowed by the rules of the game – when a striker is closer to the opposing team’s goal area than the last defender, when the ball is passed to him/her.

(*)  1~2명의 수비수가 필드 중간 너머 골대 가까이에 있는 것을 의미하는데 만약 같은 팀 선수가 공을 가지고 있을 때 오프사이드를 한다면 반칙이라고 할 수 있지만, 동료 선수가 공보다 먼저 달리거나 공 뒤로 선수가 쫓고 있는 상태라면 오프사이드 반칙이 되지 않는다

 

3. 축구 점수에 대하여 표현하는 방법

 

우리가 2대 1로 이겼습니다.    We beat them two (to) one.

우리가 1대 0으로 졌습니다.  We lost one (to) nothing.

'이기다' 표현에는 동사 beat 를 '지다'라는 표현에는 lose 를 사용하면 되고 몇 대 몇은 '점수 to 점수'로 표현하는데 to는 생략할 수 있습니다. 

 

우리 팀이 앞서고 있습니다. We're leading. We're ahead.

우리 팀이 뒤지고 있습니다. We're down. We're behind

이 표현에 몇점 차로 앞서고 있다, 뒤지고 있다고 구체적으로 표현하려면 전치사 by를 사용하면 됩니다. .

우리 팀이 3점 차로 앞서고 있습니다. We're leading by 3 goals. 

우리 팀이 3점 차로 뒤지고 있습니다. We're down by 3 goals   

 

그 게임은 2:2로 비겼습니다. The game was tied at two.

동점, 무승부 게임 결과를 말할 때는 a draw, a tie, an equaliser 를 사용하면 됩니다.

그 게임은 무승부였어 It was a tie game.

그 게임은 3:3 무승부였어. The game was a draw at three all.

 

야구장에 가서 처음 경기를 관전하던 날 두산 열혈 팬인 친구가 게임룰과 용어들을 자세하게 설명해 주니 야구가 너무 재미있었던 경험이 있어요. 아는 만큼 보인다는 말이 있는데 그건 어느 상황에나 적용되는 것 같아요.
